Johnston was born in Gibraltar, studied Business and International marketing in the U.K., speaks French and German, and worked in advertising and public relations in London's Covent Garden before moving to the U.S. She is widely published in children's, parents', and business magazines. Ms. Johnston lives in suburban Northern Virginia with her British husband and three American sons. Her first middle-grades novel is The Witness Tree and the Shadow of the Noose, was published in 2009 by White Mane Publishing Company.
